And...we're off!!!

We've officially begun our trip to Australia.  This is Brad's very first trip down under, Eric's second, and (believe it or not) Ken's THIRD vacation to Australia (spoiled brat)!

We all met up just before security at O'hare Airport and made our way to the ORD Global First Class lounge.  Oh, did I not mention?  We're flying first class all the way!  Details.  The lounge was lovely as always, and we enjoyed the extra entertainment of watching Red Carpet Club members get turned away at the front desk.  Sorry ladies and gentlemen...first class international travelers only.

All bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, we left the lounge to wait for boarding at the gate.

I'd love to say it has all been smooth sailing, but after a lengthy delay of 3+ hours, we finally got off the ground at O'hare.  Our plane apparently had multiple engine issues that had to be ironed out before we could take off.  Fortunately, we had a seven hour layover waiting for us at SFO, so we had plenty of cushioning.

We made it to SFO with no further complications, and enjoyed some downtime in the lounge.  By enjoyed, I mean frantically tried to come up with a blog name, web address, first post (this), and notifying friends/family of it's existence.  The lounge (again, Global First Class Lounge), was beautiful.

So there you have it.  We are well on our way to Sydney and we will be posting more as the trip progresses.  Only one more hour until we board our 747-400 to SYD!  Here is a preview of our next 15 hours:
